The vents are installed at the crest of the slope to ensure that the drained gases are vented to atmosphere, while preventing the introduction of meteoric water and thus guaranteeing watertightness. The gases captured by the Nappe Solpac A degassing strips rise thanks to the gas pressure gradient, and are then evacuated via the vents.
The vents are designed to prevent the intrusion of insects or other fauna into the degassing system.
