Ground consolidation

Ground consolidation refers to “any process that reduces the water content of saturated ground without replacing the water with air”.
This involves using compaction through the action of static loads within an accelerated time frame using vertical drains that compact the ground and expel the interstitial water. This ground consolidation technique can increase the load bearing capacity of a platform by bring the water in question to the surface more quickly.

The vertical drainage technique may, for example, be used during road or platform construction where the ground is saturated with water. RYB Solpac vertical drains are designed to make such water extraction easier and can significantly speed up compressible water-sodden soil consolidation, with the long-term goal of reducing subsequent settling.
