Topsoil drainage is essential to earthwork stability. Certain sizing principles must be followed:
- Appropriate flow capacity and distancing to limit water height in the topsoil, especially where the sides are steep or putting extra load on the mound would have a critical effect on its stability.
- Uniform topsoil drainage: as all areas must drain equally well, a uniform product with the same flow capacity in all directions is needed.
